The CollegeBoard PSAT/NMSQT
The CollegeBoard’s PSAT Test is generally considered to be practice for the real SAT Reasoning Test. However, the PSAT itself is one of the most important standardized tests because it determines who qualifies for National Merit. Being a National Merit semifinalist or finalist is a prestigious accomplishment that colleges will recognize and that many colleges will reward with merit scholarships. For more details about the national merit scholarship, (click here). It is also used by colleges and programs to find high achievers to whom they will send information. It is offered once a year in October. Also, material covered on the PSAT and material covered on the SAT overlap heavily, so studying for one will help with the other. Generally speaking, the SAT is simply a slightly harder and longer of the PSAT.
