Step 3: Decide which exams to take

If you are already taking an AP course for a subject, then definitely take that AP exam. You’ve already invested hours of your life into that class so you might as well reap the reward of an AP score. Similarly, if you want to take an AP exam, take the corresponding AP course at your school if it is offered. Again, since you’ll be spending the time to study the subject material, you might as well get school credit too. Obviously, taking the class will also help you do better on the AP exam.

If you can’t take a corresponding AP course, then choose AP exams by your interests, abilities, and goals. Take AP exams in subjects that you are interested in learning more about, might pursue in college or in your career, or are simply good at.
