Pros/Cons
So here’s the real deal:Pros: It is a lot of fun. You meet people other than the kids around you in Calculus and it’s a really important experience. If you are good, it’s an application booster (Varsity, MVP, 1st place at some Tournament, etc). It keeps your mind clear and you just overall feel much better – during the season is the time that I feel the best (plus it’s exercise, it’s good for you).
Cons: High school is pretty tough – some of those kids have been playing since they were five (but don’t be discouraged, sometimes the person with the quicker mind is better with strategy. Skill is easier to learn) and sometimes it can be physically exhausting. It is a dedication you would have to make and practice will probably be about 3 ½ hours, five to six days a week (It’s much different than that club that meets occasionally for only 30 minutes).
