Spanish Honor Society

Spanish Honor Society, or simply Spanish Club as it is called at some schools, is usually a blend between National Honor Society and your foreign language class. There are usually a few standards for admission to the club, such as being at a certain level of Spanish or getting certain grades etc. In general however, admission is not difficult. Once in, members are expected to do community service hours and participate in club projects. These projects are often designed to reach out to the Hispanic community. In addition, the Spanish Honor Society explores Hispanic culture and language by attending language or cultural fairs, writing Spanish school publications, and tutoring peers in Spanish.

While it does not carry the prestige of National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society is a plus to have on an application. It is an opportunity to make a difference in your community and show you care while also enhancing your own knowledge of Spanish language and culture.
