Top or Average School?
This article is intended to give you a list of general reasons to prefer top schools and a list of general reasons to prefer lower-tier schools. Its advantages are very generalized, so it should only give you an idea of where you want to go. Refer to our college information page to do research on specific universities that you may be interested in.Our general definition of a “top school” is one that ranks somewhere around the top 25 overall colleges. These can be public or private.
