Specific College Research

Here, we will provide a list of recommended resources to guide you in your college search while also providing our own insights. The best way to get specific information about a college’s programs is to visit the college’s website or contact the college. Obviously, however, this would not be practical to do for 100 different schools. Instead, use the resources we provide below to narrow your list to a manageable number on which to do specific research.

Best 368 Colleges by Princeton Review

This book is a great source of general information about colleges. It lists general statistics about the colleges in an orderly and easy to use format. It is also a good source from which to get a “feel” for what life is like at a particular school. This book features two pages on each college and includes one paragraph on each of the following: academics, life, student body, admissions, financial aid and the “inside word”. The beginning of the book ranks schools according to various criteria including academics, departments, satisfaction levels, etc. Again, these ratings will give you a rough idea of what a school is like, but don’t take these ratings as immutable truth. Use this book for general information, but don’t expect it to give you specific details about each school.

Our Reviews of Colleges

Since Princeton Review and other books already provide solid overviews of colleges, we don’t want to simply repeat that information and tell you general information. Instead, every time we find something interesting, important, or different about a college, we will post that information here. Note that unique or especially strong programs in a particular field that colleges have will be posted under “Best Departments” (they may or may not also be posted here).
