Steps to Building Good Teacher Relationships and Ensuring a Positive Rec Letter
As much as we hate to think about it, teachers are real people. Sometimes all they really want and need is respect. You don’t have to be the kid who aces all the tests or sucks up to the teacher – everyone has their days where they just need to goof off for a bit (only on occasion, with restraint). But make sure that you give that teacher respect (especially the ones that are related to your interested area of study … i.e. – if you want to go into science, piss off your English teacher instead). Try to show some responsibility and, remember, being involved will never hurt you. Think about it, teachers have to write a one-page letter recommending you to whatever program or college it is. You need to give them something to talk about so avoid being obnoxious and make sure they know all the great things you are doing with your life.
