Recommendation Letter

A recommendation letter can be invaluable to getting into summer camps, internships, and college. Choose teachers that are relevant to what you are doing AND who likes you* (the worst thing that can happen is picking a staff member that gives a poor recommendation). Tell the teacher what it is you are doing (applying for some camp, etc) and a little background information about the activity. Ask them if they would be willing/able to write a letter of recommendation for you. Either give them a copy or tell them that you will email them a copy of your resume (see how to write a resume).

Make sure to thank them and follow up with a thank you card. It does not need to be a letter or anything fancy, but make sure that you show you really appreciate their time and effort to do you this favor. You can choose to include a small gift such as a gift card (this is HIGHLY recommended if the teacher does multiple letters for you).
